* All Mauritanian culture counties are Valentinian, Donatist, or African Church religion * The "Fall of Rome" Event no longer impacts Nicene fervor, and most piety and prestige losses are reduced
- Mechanics:
- Added hegemonies to the map, including the Eastern Roman Empire, the Western Roman Empire
- Added mechanic for "Hegemony Collapse"
- Occurs when non-China Hegemony titles drop below a realm size of 50
- Models the transition of the WRE after the death of Nepos as well as the collapse of the Sasanids during the Arab-Sasanid war
Landed Titles:
- Eastern Roman Empire:
- Added two new Empire-level tiers, the Praetorian Prefecture of Illyricum and the Praetorian Prefecture of the East
- Removed the titular Illyrian Prefecture Kingdom
- To avoid issues with landed titles and vassal anger, the Eastern Roman Empire Empire-Tier title is kept for the duchy containing Byzantium
- Once destroyed, only creatable by the Eastern Roman Emperor or by decision
- Western Roman Empire:
- Replaced several Empires with Praetorian Prefectures, including Gaul (Hispania and Gaul), Italia (Italy), and Africa (North Africa)
- Adjusted the borders of some provinces in southern Gaul
- To avoid issues with landed titles and vassal anger, the Western Roman Empire Empire-Tier title is kept for the duchy containing Ravenna
- Adjusted some capitals to avoid collision issues
- Once destroyed, only creatable by the Eastern Roman Emperor or by decision
- Persian Empire:
- Created the Parthian Empire as another Persian Empire, containing Daylam, Parthia, Sogdiana, Khwarezmia, and Bactria, essentially splitting the old Persian empire into two equal components
- At start, the Persian Shahanshah gets all the appropriate Kingdom titles to avoid "Not Rightful Liege" errors
- Italian Kingdom Hegemony:
- Models the post-Roman Kingdom of Odoacer and the Ostrogoths in the Italian peninsula, which maintained several aspects of Roman governance, including the Praetorian Prefectures
- Historic Hegemonies:
- Made the Empire of Macedon and Seleucid Empire into Hegemonies, historically
- Tweaks
- Praetorian Prefectures are, at start, destroyed when playing with Roman Dynastic Governance to avoid overly strong vassals, presuming the Praetorian is an AI player
- Removed Titles
- Removed Titular Moesia Superior title as it is rendered superfluous on the CK3 map
Casus Bellis:
- Revamped Roman Reconquest CB to be a De Jure type of CB for the Roman Empires
- Players with Sub-Roman government can now attack other Sub-Roman (and potentially Roman) realms with a similar sort of De Jure CB
- Odoacer's Takeover War will cede land to the Visigoths and gain land from the Vandals and secure truces, so long as the Visigoths and Vandals are AI players, respectively
Culture:
- "Legal Codex" Late Antiquity Innovation no longer unlocks Roman Imperial Reconquests
Decisions:
- Added a decision to establish titular Hegemonies like for titular Empires and titular Kingdoms
- Updated the "Ask Pope for Coronation", "Ask for Western Roman Empire", and "Reunite the two Roman Empires" decisions requirements and effects
- Removed "Enforce our Imperium" decision as it is overcome by redesign
- Requirements for the "Swap Roman Province" and "Establish De Jure Title" decisions tweaked to be either legitimacy and prestige levels or having the "Legendary Leader" trait
Laws:
- Roman Dynastic Laws unlock an increasing ability for Roman and Sub-Roman states to launch wars for Former Roman Territory
- At maximum Roman State Authority, Sub-Roman realms can attack the Roman Empire, modeling some of the mid-Vth Century Wars of Suebia and Visigothica
History:
- Updated large parts of history to tie into the new map structure
- Provence is overhauled so the Praetorian Prefecture of Gaul is under the Western Roman Empire
- The entirety of Provence is under the PPG
- Added placeholder characters so that the roman provinces are filled out, in places wherein we lack historical characters, to remove the overly large domain issue
- Removed the Duchy of Massalia and the Massalian duke under the Visigoths
Tweaks:
- Skirian and Roman cultural acceptance starts at 20 in the post-Odoacer War bookmark
- The Byzantine Name rule has no effect and is noted as such
- The "Form Frankish Kingdom" Decision gives the former a claim on the entirety of the Praetorian Prefecture of Gaul instead of just modern France
- AI Western Roman Rulers will not move the capital from Ravenna
- Updated mod decisions and events extensively in light of Hegemony rank
Localization:
- Lots of minor localization fixes
Bug Fixes:
- Removed certain legend seed bugs
- Orestes is no longer eligible for election in the WRE
